Ipoh has a reasonable number of clinics; the smaller Perak towns do not. Patients in Kampar, Gopeng, Batu Gajah and the surrounding areas often struggle to find a physiotherapist without travelling into the city. This role is about closing that gap - a physiotherapist who owns a town cluster and becomes the go-to local option there.
It is a mobile role: you travel to patients within your area rather than working from a single clinic. The difference from the general home-visit role is focus. Instead of covering wherever visits come up across Perak, you concentrate on one cluster of towns close to where you live, which cuts your travel and lets you build a recognisable local presence.
What you would do
You would take home-visit and community enquiries within your town cluster and treat patients where they are - homes, and where appropriate, community or care settings. The caseload mirrors the wider service: musculoskeletal pain, post-surgery and post-fracture recovery, stroke rehabilitation, and mobility work with older adults.
- Own a defined town cluster (e.g. Kampar and Gopeng) as the local physiotherapist.
- Treat patients in homes and community settings within that area.
- Keep travel short by concentrating on nearby towns you know well.
- Grow a steady local caseload through repeat patients and word of mouth.
Who this suits
This is a strong fit for physiotherapists who already live in or near these towns and would rather work locally than commute into Ipoh. Kampar in particular has a large student population and growing healthcare demand, so a physiotherapist based there can build a genuinely useful local service. If you know your area - the roads, the housing areas, the local hospital and GP referrers - you have an advantage.
You should be comfortable working independently and have your own transport. Some clinical experience helps, because you will often be the only physiotherapist a patient sees.
Pay and arrangement
Visits in the town clusters typically pay RM80-150 per session, reflecting travel within the area and case complexity. As with the other freelance roles you invoice for completed visits and manage your own tax and MAHPC practising certificate. Because you concentrate on one area, your travel time per visit is usually lower than covering the whole state.
